Purple Cow

There’s a rhyme I remember from growing up that went like this:

I’ve never seen a purple cow
and never hope to see one,
but if I may and if I might,
I’d rather see than be one.

I remember going to the annual county fair one time as a child and seeing a purple cow, and my mother pointing it out to me and asking me if I would rather see than be one.

I’d never seen a pink carabao, water buffalo, before, but now I have.   And yes, I would rather see than be one.
