Michael & Marissa Wedding Photos

The ceremony and reception were held on September 1, 2006. We’ll be on honeymoon for the next few weeks, traveling The Philippine Islands, but here are a few select photos from the wedding. I’ll post more as time, and love, permits.

We didn’t rehearse any of the wedding, and I fumbled a bit with her ring, but it’s on there now to stay.

The bride and groom giving each other a taste of the wedding cake. One of my only regrets from the wedding was that we only ate ceremonial bites of the cake. The cake was actually the best cake I’ve ever had and I wish I had eaten more of it. It was quickly devoured by our wedding reception attendees.

director_sponsors-sm.jpg

Our most prestigious wedding sponsors, Direrector Emil Rana, and Director Ernesto Bontuyan. Director Rana is the current head of the Department of the Interior and Local Goverment (DILG) for Region 10, which includes Cagayan de Oro and the Province of Misamis Oriental, and Director Bontuyan was previous head of DILG, now retired and is now my cousin-in-law.

ansel_and_wife_sponsors-sm.jpg

My personal favorite of wedding sponsor and friend, Ansel and his wife. Ansel is the Philippine National Police Officer with whom I went shooting at the Camp Aligar shooting range. Before I left The Philippines in June, 2005, I asked Ansel to take my girlfriend shooting. Neither he nor I knew that my girlfriend, now my wife, was his cousin-in-law. A few months after I left The Philippines Marissa visted Ansel’s home and saw Marissa’s cell phone screen saver, which was a picture of me and Marissa, and only then knew who my girlfriend was. Nevertheless, Ansel warned Marissa that as my friend he had been monitoring me while in CdO and that I was seen with many women. What Ansel did not know was that once I met Marissa I only went out with her and that since she was chaparoned each and every night she went out with me by a myriad of cousins and friends, it only appeared that I was out with many different women, when the truth was that only the chaparones changed. Despite his lack of knowledge of the actual situation between me and Marissa, Ansel performed admirably and I am proud to have him as my friend and as my cousin-in-law.

Kaliwat_Tribal_Band-sm.jpg

The Kaliwat Tribal Band, which means, roughly, “Ancestral Tribal Band”, which is like calling a country music band “The Country Music Band” or a rock-n-roll band “The Rock and Rolll Band”, but these guys are “it” nevertheless. They’ll be cutting their first CD later this month and perhaps providing me with some MP3’s for download. Stay tuned here for more on them. I for one am a dedicated fan.
